Mi Pobre Computadorcita

Mon Jun 16, 2008, 6:30 AM
Last year, I and 11 other kids won a scholarship that allowed us to complete Japanese 101 and 102 at Kent State and Oberlin Universities. To help us with our homework, we were even given laptops that type in Japanese. Now, I live on this laptop; it stays on day and night and is on my bed in case I have the urge to e-mail or facebook (an "addiction" is such a weak term for the dependence I have on my computer). Well, the man who put all the programs on our computers did so under the name of Kent State, making our owning of them kind of illegal. I wasn't going to tell him, but if anything happens to my computer in college, I wanted to have the rights to the programs in case they refused to fix it. So, idiotic as always, I emailed their new tech-guy and told him that I still had their stuff. So I am going to lose XP Pro, Windows 2003, and maybe all of my Japanese-typing abilities. On top of that, I don't have a job and my family is far from rich, so I can't buy the stuff. I thought that I would be all prepared for college!

Motive

For quite some time I have been checking out the different artists and writers here and bookmarking my favorites. I was so captivated that this site was able to host so many talented and creative people. My friends told me that I should set up an account, but what for? I wasn't inspired to write a story or sketch something anyone else would want to see. In truth, any "artistic" creation I attempt should be locked away and stored among some biochemical waste deposits. But being the spineless worm that I am, I created this page and will continue to look through my one-way glass; seeing but never contributing. Does this have a name? Moocher? That sounds like I want to share in something; I just want to watch. Jealous? Most likely. If you have the distinct displeasure of reading this, perhaps you also have a name for my kind of person. Respond if you wish.
